The City of Del Mar, world famous
for its horseracing (July – September at the fairgrounds), has
one of San Diego North's most popular beaches. Located just north
of Torrey Pines State Beach, Del Mar’s beach is perfect for
families, tourists, and surfers who enjoy its wide expanse of sand.
Swimming, walking, surfing, body boarding, and even grunion hunting
are just some of the activities you can enjoy at this beach. Del Mar
also has two seaside parks — Seagrove and Powerhouse —
both great for picnicking and stunning ocean views. Often referred
to as “Malibu South,” the community of Del Mar features
expensive real estate, high-end boutiques, trendy cafes, and restaurants
(along Camino Del Mar / Highway 101). The Del Mar Fair, one of the
largest county fairs in the U.S., runs from mid-June through July
4 and has carnival rides, games, entertainment, and exhibits.
La Jolla Kayak Fishing
Welcome to La Jolla Kayak fishing, San Diego's
original kayak fishing instruction and guide service. Our goal is
to teach you all the tricks of kayak fishing learned over many years
of fishing the California coast.
We cater to all levels of kayakers and fishermen.
Private lessons and small group sessions are available. All equipment
is provided. All you need to bring is your lunch and your spirit
of adventure.
For those not interested in fishing, we also conduct tours off the
La Jolla coast, and whale watching during the migration season.
Beautiful sandstone cliffs rise 300 magnificent feet from the Pacific
Ocean to greet miles of walking paths along the bluffs at Torrey
Pines State Beach. Hiking trails take visitors through the reserve
among the Torrey pines (one of the rarest varieties of pine in the
world), wildflowers, and other plants and animals with panoramic
views of the ocean.
These trails wind down to a 4.5-mile stretch of beach that is uncrowded
and ideal for swimming, walking, or picnicking. Be sure to visit
the museum and visitor center (built in 1923) on top of the reserve
at Torrey Pines.
Restrooms are available on top of the reserve and down on the beach.
Showers are located at the bottom only. Remember that Torrey Pines
is a state park and it is illegal to pick wildflowers or take pine
cones; state law protects all natural or historic features. Bicycles
and dogs are not allowed on trails.
Seagrove and Powerhouse Parks
Del Mar also has two seaside parks — Seagrove and Powerhouse
— both great for picnicking and stunning ocean views.
Del Mar Fairgrounds
The Del Mar Fair, one of the largest county fairs in the U.S.,
runs from mid-June through July 4 and has carnival rides, games,
entertainment, and exhibits.
Fairgrounds facilities feature 180,000 square feet of exhibit space,
ranging from the Grandstand luxury suites, perfect for an intimate
gathering of 10-20 people, up to O’Brien Hall, which can hold
up to 6,800 people. Also, the Fairgrounds has several outdoor venues,
including the Grandstand and the Del Mar Arena, which can seat as
many as 7,000 people.
A private balloon charter is perfect for birthdays, Mothers, anniversaries,
graduations, prom night or a thoughtful, unforgettable experience
that say's "I Love You" to that very special someone on
Valentines day.
All balloons rides are fun, but ballooning on private rides for
two is like having your own exclusive Limo. Compared to riding in
a larger balloon with 8 to 12 other people, it is a unique, personalized,
once in a lifetime experience that will be remembered forever.
